CONFLICT ADVISORY & LEADERSHIP

Clear thinking for consequential conflict.

Private, independent perspective for leaders and professionals when the stakes are high and the right move is not obvious.

BEFORE YOU ACT

The conflicts that matter most rarely arrive with a clear answer.

A partnership under strain. An allegation that touches your reputation. A leadership team that has stopped moving. You may already have advisers and strong views of your own. What is often missing is someone experienced, independent and candid enough to help you see the whole picture before you act.

TWO WAYS TO WORK TOGETHER

Conflict Strategy Consultation

For a specific situation that needs a clear next step.

A focused, confidential 60-minute session. It begins with a deceptively simple question, what do you want?, and ends with a defined next step. In between, Susannah helps you separate what you know from what you fear, map the people and interests involved, and test your assumptions and options. Where a question calls for specialist legal, financial or communications advice, she will tell you.

The objective isn't to agree with you. It's to help you think clearly, and to decide with confidence.

Conflict Leadership

For leaders who want to handle disagreement with greater skill.

Leaders make decisions amid competing interests, resistance and uncertainty, often with their own credibility at stake. Susannah works individually with executives, founders, partners and physician leaders, some facing significant friction now and others building the capability before they need it. The work joins executive coaching with a mediator's understanding of how conflict moves, and it is built around the real situations you are leading through.

Engagements tailored to the individual

ABOUT SUSANNAH

Trial lawyer, mediator, executive coach.

Susannah Margison has spent nearly fifteen years helping people resolve conflict where a great deal is at stake. As a trial lawyer, she saw how disputes look once they reach court. As a mediator, she sees what makes resolution possible. As former board chair of one of Ontario’s largest interdisciplinary primary health teams, she has carried the responsibility of leadership herself.

She is a certified executive coach, trained through the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching, and brings all three perspectives to every conversation: sound judgment about risk, an understanding of how people negotiate under pressure, and respect for the decisions that are yours alone to make.

Every engagement is confidential and begins with a suitability and conflicts review. Advisory and leadership work is separate from mediation and does not include legal representation. To protect HMI's impartiality, we do not provide these services to anyone involved in a matter that Susannah or HMI is mediating.
